Ebay confirmed its previously announced sale of Skype earlier this month, with the intention of turning over 65% of the company to investors of the Silver Lake Partners group. Ebay’s original intention was to simply buy-out Skype, pay-out its partners, and sell off the company to the investment group. However, a new development has put a crack in the sale.

The owners are claiming a Terms of Service violation based on the idea that Ebay revealed the technology powering the Skype service and technology. The suit is officially filed by the founders’ own company Joltid, the brains behind the Skype code. The company is looking for $75 million per day in damage payments. The numbers stem from Skype counting each download as copyright infringement, which estimates into costs of about $27 billion per year, as calculated by Mashable.

Skype has been known for their lawsuits as in the suit filed in the original sale of the company to Ebay. Whether or not the suit will go through profitably for the founders remains to be seen. From my own personal reasoning, I have to wonder if Skype really intends to try and back a figure that outrageous.

It is very famous to the people and many people around the world are now different kind of Peer-to-Peer or p2p software to not only sharing files from local network, they also share files from around the globe.

The P2P sharing began in 1999 when a student from Northestern University in Boston named Shawn Fanning created an online file sharing system. Fanning only created the system for sharing mp3 music files and later on he named it Napster. However, in 2001 the Napster is closed because of the copyright law. Although the original service was shut down by the court, it paved the way for decentralized peer-to-peer file-distribution programs, which have been much harder to control.

Today, there are thousands of P2P services like Napster and there are also thousands of software’s for this purpose. But it is very important to select proper and good quality of p2p software. Here is some of the best software that will allow you to share your files safely and also provide better service.

UTorrent
UTorrent is a well-organized BitTorrent client and it is designed for Windows. This software needs very little CPU, memory and space and it offers good functionality that advanced clients expect.

Lime Wire
This is a free file sharing Gnutella client for Windows, Mac, and OSX. Lime Wire allows you to search for multiple files at the same time and it is compatible with all major platforms and running over the Gnutella network.

ARES P2P
Ares has powerful library organizer, built in audio/video player and file sharing chat rooms. It automatically finds more sources and downloads files from many users at once. You can easily download ares from their web site and it is ready to use. Ares vista is specifically designed to work with the increased security features of Windows Vista.

Soulseek
Soulseek is an ad-free and spyware-free file sharing application. It is created by a former Napster programmer named Nil Arbel. Soulseek is good p2p software for finding non-mainstream music. It has virtual rooms which allow you to meet people with the same interests, share information, and chat, so it is a great way to make new friends.

StrongDC++
StrongDC++ is a free client for sharing in Direct Connect network. It is based on CZDC++ and has partial file sharing, download/upload speed limiter, safe segmented downloading and other interesting features. It is an Open Source client so you can download a source code and modify it.

eMule
One of the biggest p2p file sharing clients around the world. It is based on the eDonkey2000 network but offers more features than the standard client. eMule is easy to configure, but with many options and controls it is also good for the advanced user. Thanks to its open source policy many developers are able to contribute to the project, making the network more efficient with each release.
