As an online encyclopedia there is now huge popularity of Wikipedia on the Internet. But once upon a time, there had huge recognition and one and only leadership of Encarta in all online encyclopedias. But in recent few years its service had been rapidly losing in the information reference battle against online giant encyclopedia, Wikipedia. So Microsoft makes a decision to discontinue their service of Encarta. Microsoft’s Website mentioned that, it will discontinue its MSN Encarta encyclopedia software and services over the course of this year. It would close down all Encarta sites in the world by the close of October 2009, except Japan, where they will close 2 months later.
The encyclopedia, which started in 1993, is shutting down after 16 years. The last version of the Encarta Premium 2009 had more than 62,000 detailed articles, immersive research experiences, and thousands of trusted web links. It retailed for $29.95. By contrast, the English version of Wikipedia boasted 2,818,976 articles as of March 31 which is fully free. So, why people will take Encarta’s service?
For the free service and plenty of collection of Wikipedia, within a few year it Beats Encarta very easily. So after this summer Encarta will no longer sell its Encarta software.

The specific release date will be determined once the company meets its quality bar for release.” According to the leaked information on the next iteration of the Windows platform, the final version of Windows 7 was to be covered up the end of 2009.
Windows 7 will available in both user and server versions with the user versions it will available in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions. The server version of Windows 7 will be available for 64-bit only. Bill Gates, in an interview with Newsweek, recommended that the subsequently version of Windows would be more “user-centric.”
He said:
That means that right now when you shift from one PC to another, you have got to install apps on each one, do upgrades on each one. Moving information between them is very painful. We can use live services to know what you’re interested in. So even if you drop by a kiosk (public) or somebody else’s PC, we can bring down your home page, your files, your fonts, your favorites and those things. So that’s kind of the user-centric thing that Live Services can enable. Also in Vista, things got a lot better with ink (digital) and speech, but by the next release there will be a much bigger bet. Students won’t need textbooks; they can just use these tablet devices. Parallel computing is pretty important for the next release. We will make it so that a lot of the high level graphics will be just built into the operating system. So we’ve got a pretty good outline.
